2274 Jaffa Place

Harold and Dorothy Taylor enjoy their exquisite home located in the Grovewood community.  Harold and Dorothy have maintained their Clearwater home for 38 years by painting and installing new landscaping, fencing, and irrigation system to help maintain their park-like setting home.  They have more than 30 types of plants, trees, and flowers throughout the property lined with concrete gator tailed flowerbeds. The overall maintenance and improvements are inspiring to other neighbors to preserve and enhance their properties.

Skycrest

The Skycrest neighborhood is located in the heart of Clearwater. Its active neighborhood association invests in its homeowners as much as the properties that comprise the neighborhood. Joanna Siskin, president, said:

"Skycrest Neighbors is intended to be a link with our government leaders and acts as a collective voice that has been established by neighbors for neighbors. In Skycrest we have a common bond, our neighborhood."

Skycrest neighbors’ creativity and activism has earned them the recognition in the city’s Clearwater Awards for Neighborhoods competition. They work together, along with partners, and have created a neighborhood website, built Clearwater’s first community garden, established a neighborhood pet registry and partnered with the Clearwater Police department in creating a neighborhood patrol in Crest Lake Park. In addition, they hold monthly meetings and participate in city sponsored events, like Neighborhood Day. The community pride is evident in this neighborhood and is an example for all others to model.
