Neighborhood of the Quarter: East Gateway Business and Neighbors Association

Residents of East Gateway Business and Neighbors Association take pride in maintaining their unique community, located north of Court Street and south of Drew Street. The residents of the East Gateway Business and Neighbors Association have an active crime watch, participated in Talento 2010 projects, sponsors social activities and is working very hard to recapture and maintain their neighborhood through partnership with the city of Clearwater as well as other partners. The members of the neighborhood meet regularly to address community concerns and celebrate their many accomplishments. |

3236 San Mateo Street
Brian and Stacey Butler have enjoyed living in their Del Oro Groves Estates home since 2001. The home includes 25 different species of plants and trees, landscaping and an irrigation system. The Butler’s home also includes a pool and artistic ornaments that accent the overall property’s landscape that includes flowerbeds that are lined with concrete brick. Neighbors comment on the unique style and décor of the property and feel that it is a model to the local community and adds to the beauty of this attractive neighborhood in the City of Clearwater.

1460 Turner Street
Julie Thompson moved into her home in 2002. Julie has 15 types of trees, bushes and plants. She has maintained a property that was originally built in 1970’s. This home has many features such as an open porch, a paver walkway, detached garage, a PVC fence, and night lightening. Ms. Thompson has a beautiful property that is well maintained and is an example to all of the neighbors in the Breese Hill community.

1428 South Hillcrest Avenue
Terry and Patricia Clark enjoy their exquisite home located in the Brickhill community. Terry and Patricia have maintained their Clearwater home for 39 years by painting and installing new landscaping, fencing, and adding a Gazebo in the backyard. They have over 20 types of plants, trees, and flowers throughout the property accented with lawn décor lined flowerbeds. The overall maintenance and improvements are inspiring to other neighbors in the community to preserve and enhance their properties.

1120 Granada Street
The Kuehn home, in the Edgewater Drive neighborhood, was remolded in 2005 - 06. Evan added landscaping, an irrigation system, and installed over 10 types of Florida friendly plants, shrubs, palm trees and flowers. To enhance the home, Evan increased the square footage by installing an addition, which includes wooden accents to both garage doors and window shutters. Evan was not done; he also added a tile walkway, including tile flooring to the porch as well as hanging potted plants near the front entrance of his home. This home is well maintained and is an inspiration to neighbors in the Edgewater Drive community.
