Finding Materials with the WHAT DO I READ NEXT databaseThe Clearwater Public Library and the Pinellas Public Library Cooperative offer the What Do I Read Next database to registered library patrons as a way to search for information on authors, genres, best-selling and award-winning titles, and other criteria in order to help you find books that will hopefully appeal to you. ACCESSING THE WHAT DO I READ NEXT DATABASEClick here to access the database Enter your 14-digit library card number (if outside the library) and click PROCEED. The main page of the database will appear. CONDUCTING SEARCHESThere are two main sections to the main search page – searching by author and title, or conducting a custom search, or searching more on the basis of genre or award winners.
When conducting an Author Search, you can search by an author’s name or by the start of an author’s name.
You can also search by series or title. You can search by exact title or series name or for entries that simply contain a word or phrase.
You can also conduct a Custom Search using criteria such as subject, location, time period, and character description, among others.
From any of the search pages for one of these three types of search, you can limit the search by type at the top of the page; i.e., by limiting the results to fiction or non-fiction, or by literature for adults, young adults, or children.
HELP ME FIND A BOOKYou can also find books by entering the title of a book you have enjoyed and then receiving suggestions of similar books.
GENRE SEARCHYou can also conduct a more complicated search by limiting the results to certain genres.
AWARDS, BEST SELLERS AND OTHER LISTSYou can also conduct a search based on awards and other lists.
WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN SEARCHESFinally, you can search using two or more of the criteria of who, what, when and where.
