Diagram of boat slip layoutThe City of Clearwater would like to thank its voters for approving the boat slips referendum and making the project a reality. On March 13, 2007, voters took a step closer to deciding the future of downtown’s waterfront. Once boat slips are constructed, you can envision an active, dynamic waterfront that will become a destination for visitors cruising the Florida coastline and for locals out for a day of fun. This vital project is just the spark that will highlight Clearwater's downtown as a destination, including Cleveland Street and surrounding areas.

The project is in its earliest stages. Design plans should be ready in December of this year. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Pinellas County Water and Navigation Control Authority and the city's Community Development Board also must sign off on the boat slips project. After the design plans are ready, the city will apply for permits, and in January 2009, construction crews will begin their work. The slips are expected to open in July, 2009.

The city is collecting information from those who are interested in a space at the new boat slips facility. Boat slips will be awarded in a blind lottery, with first priority given to residents of the City of Clearwater.

If you are interested in a downtown boat slip, use our sign up form.

The city has mailed applications to all persons who signed up as being interested in a space at the new Downtown Boat Slips facility. Please contact the Marine Department at (727) 462-6954 ext. 29 if you signed up as being interested but haven’t received your application in the mail.

Boat slips will be awarded in a blind lottery, with first priority given to residents of the City of Clearwater. The boat slips lottery will be held at the Harborview Center, 300 Cleveland St. on March 14, 2009.  Registration for the blind lottery requires filling out a Clearwater Municipal Marina Slip Wait List Application, and providing a $500 reservation deposit.
