Doggie Days is a rompin' good time
“I wanted to commend you on the fantastic job!! My dog enjoys going to the park every day!!
It is nice the city gave the citizens something that will benefit everyone. I also wanted to
thank you for the good job your employees do of keeping the park clean and the "doggie bag" dispensers full.
I have only been there a couple of times when one box was empty but the rest were full. Once again, thanks for a great park!
You should be proud of yourselves!" –Anita Fowler.
The City of Clearwater has a new place for their citizens to visit, well at least the ones with four legs.
The addition of the new dog park, “Doggie Days,” has been a tremendous success and is a great place for
a dog to be a dog. Located within beautiful Crest Lake Park at the southeast corner of Gulf-To-Bay Boulevard
and Glenwood Avenue, the dog park is the city’s first off-leash park. On a normal day the dog park has from
100-300 dogs and their owners visit daily.
The dog park boasts many unique features including three double-gated dog runs, which allow owners to
unleash their pets in a holding area before releasing them into the play areas that are approximately
three-quarters and one acre in size. Each play area has benches, waste collection supplies and disposal
facilities, drinking fountains with pet bowls, leash holders and paw washers on concrete pads so guests
can wash their dogs paws and keep them clean when leaving the park.
To keep you cool during the hot Florida days is a heavy tree canopy of oaks, which lend much needed shade. The lush
landscaping makes the park a great place for pets and their owners to enjoy.
The Clearwater Outdoor Arts Foundation has an art display in the park. Frenchy’s Restaurants sponsored the placement
of five retired hydrants that were painted by local artists and provide functional art in the dog park. Soon the park
will be decorated with a 5-foot high by 7-foot long topiary of a St. Bernard and fire hydrants that will be situated
in a sea of flowers.
Many patrons of Clearwater enjoy coming out to the dog park with their “best friends.” The dogs love to use the facilities
and hang out around the watering holes. The owners also love that the park has many trees, which makes it cooler and
more comfortable.
If you have yet to come out with your pooch to enjoy this wonderful dog park, then there is no better time than now.
The dog park is open from sunrise until 11:00 p.m. daily.
