Q: What is a Business Tax Receipt?
A: Business Tax Receipt means the method by which the
city grants the privilege of engaging in or managing any business, profession,
or occupation with its jurisdiction. It shall not mean any fees or licenses
paid to any board, commission, or officer for permits, registration, examination,
or inspection which are hereby deemed to be regulatory and in addition
to and not in lieu of any Business Tax Receipt unless otherwise provided
by law.

A: A business that does not maintain a permanent business
location or branch office within the city limits of Clearwater but desires
to transact business or engage in an occupation or profession within the
city shall register the Business Tax Receipt from the city or county where their business
is located, provide any regulatory certificate applicable to the type

and pay a license transfer fee. The transfer fee is 10 percent of the

owner with the completion of an application, evidence of the sale, the
original license, any regulatory certificate applicable to the type of
