Help Us Organize A Summit For Clearwater Youth!View GotGov! Clearwater Rediscovered Youth Summit FlyerView and Print GotGov! Clearwater Rediscovered Youth Summit Participation FormDear Young Leaders: Do you think Clearwater is a cool place where you and your friends would like to live, or not? When you graduate from high school, are you planning to go to college? join the military? get a job? If you leave Clearwater after high school, would you come back to stay? The answers to these questions will play a part in Clearwater's future, as its leaders seek to realize a vision of this city as a strong and vibrant hub of social and economic activity. And those of you now in your teenage years will have a huge influence on which direction the city goes as we hope to steer it to become a city that would be attractive for you and your friends now and twenty years from now. We want to know what it would take for Clearwater to be the place for young professionals of the future – the kind of a place other communities would want to imitate. That's why we need your help. On April 19th, the city of Clearwater will be hosting a youth summit to discuss issues and concerns of young people across Pinellas County and begin developing a youth master plan for Clearwater. We’re looking for students interested in helping to organize the event that will be held at the Sheraton Sand Key Hotel. Clearwater's youth advisory initiative, GotGov!, working alongside Clearwater's Public Communications office, wants to hear ideas from local youth on what they think can make Clearwater an even better place to live. Through leadership exercises and visioning sessions, summit participants will be encouraged to get involved in their local community and to make Clearwater enjoyable and youth friendly. This leadership summit will help the city government to plan for a youth and young-professional-friendly city in the future. "Clearwater Rediscovered" includes free breakfast, lunch, t-shirt, games and prizes. Attendance will be limited to 100 students, so we recommend early registration to reserve a place. All registration forms should be returned to Betsy Clement, GotGov! Coordinator, Public Communications Department, 100 S. Myrtle Ave., Clearwater, FL 33756 no later than April 14. We will also accept registrations over the phone at 562-4664. For further information, call Betsy at the (727) 562-4664, or e-mail gotgov@myclearwater.com. Please help us make this event a success, as well as help to make Clearwater a more youth friendly city! High schools students from 8th to 12th grades are eligible and should either be a resident of Clearwater or attend a school in Clearwater. Sign up for "Clearwater Rediscovered," and learn to be a leader in your community. Help guide yours and your city's future. Photo Archive
