2004 Telephone Survey Results

The Solid Waste/General Services Department is pleased to announce the results of its eleventh annual telephone survey. The survey shows high levels of satisfaction with Clearwater's residential solid waste and recycling services, and awareness of the department's programs and events.

Conducted at the end of 2004 by Bordner Research, Inc., the survey was made of 600 randomly-selected households in Clearwater. The 2005 telephone survey results will be available in early 2006.

Highlighted results include:

 Excellent or good ratings for residential automated solid waste collection service were given by 95% of those surveyed, while 96% reported the same for the curbside collection of recyclables

 89% of citizens who called the department for information or service requests were satisfied with the response provided by staff

 84% of residents with yellow recycling bins claim that they set out recyclables at least monthly

86% of multi-family households reported that they recycle at their onsite collection area

 Around 48% of residents make a special effort to buy items that can be recycled or that are reusable rather than disposable

35% of residents intentionally purchase at least one type of item made from recycled materials
