7/23/2010 - Reclaimed Water Service to Beach and Island Estates is Restored

Reclaimed water service has been restored to Clearwater Beach and Island Estates. On Thursday, July 22, the reclaimed water line was pressure-tested and flushed to ensure that debris and air was expelled from the system, and the line is fully operational once again. The interruption in service happened when an 18-inch subaqueous reclaimed water line main was accidentally hit by a contractor on Friday, July 9. more

CLEARWATER, Fla. - The City of Clearwater Parks and Recreation Department is asking residents to bring plastic grocery and newspaper bags to collection sites. Lane closures along Edgewater Drive from Union Street to Sunset Point Road will be under flagman control from Monday, July 26 to Friday, July 30.

The northbound lane of Reynolds Avenue at Pinellas Street will be closed through Friday, July 30. The lane closure is due to curb replacement.

Please be cautious and drive slowly through these two construction areas.

7/19/2010 - UPDATE: Reclaimed Water Service Interruption for Beach and Island Estates Areas

City of Clearwater representatives met Friday, July 16 with the contractor who damaged the subaqueous reclaimed water main on Friday, July 9 resulting in an interruption of reclaimed water service to customers in the Island Estates and Beach areas. The contractor has inspected the damaged area of the line which is inside a casing located in a rock formation below the floor of Clearwater Harbor. more

East Avenue from Park to Chestnut streets, with the exception of the intersections at Court and Chestnut streets, will be closed to traffic until Aug. 30, 2010, due to railroad construction. Traffic can use Fort Harrison Avenue as a detour route. more

7/14/2010 - Protect Pets and People from Fire and Heat Dangers

In response to the National Fire Protection Agency’s announcement of July 15 as Pet Safety Day, Clearwater Fire & Rescue is urging Clearwater pet owners to take precautions to keep pets away from hazards that could start a fire and to make provisions for pet evacuations in the event of a fire or other disaster. In addition, it is important to remember not to leave pets inside closed vehicles in Florida’s summer heat. more

7/14/2010 - Reclaimed Water Service Currently Not Available at Clearwater Beach and Island Estates

Reclaimed water service currently is not available for properties located at Island Estates and Clearwater Beach until further notice. This is due to an accident that occurred when a contractor damaged the reclaimed water main pipeline to the beach areas. The City of Clearwater and contractor are working together to identify ways to repair the main, which is located underneath Clearwater Harbor. Thank you for your patience.
