Clearwater, Fla. – As daylight savings begins on March 14, 2009, don’t forget to set your clock ahead (spring ahead) an hour when you go to bed Saturday night and don’t forget to change the batteries in your smoke alarms. Working smoke alarms could mean the difference between getting out alive… or not. Most smoke alarms fail because of missing, disconnected or dead batteries. Changing the batteries only takes a few minutes and can saves lives. more

3/11/2010 - Certification of March 9 Election Results And Post-Election Audit

The Pinellas County Canvassing Board will meet Friday, March 12, at the Election Service Center, 13001 Starkey Rd. in Largo. At 9 a.m., the Board will canvass provisional ballots, certify the March 9 Municipal Election results, and conduct a post-election test of the tabulation equipment. The Board will also draw the race and precinct for the post-election audit as required by Florida Statutes. At 2 p.m., the Board will begin the post-election audit. more

3/8/2010 - Two Upcoming Road Closures

Please be advised of the following two road closures:

Cleveland Street at Lake Drive will be closed to traffic through March 15. Laura Street can be used as a detour route.

Hercules Avenue from Lakeview Road to Imperial Way will be closed to traffic on Wednesday, March 10 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Embassy Drive can be used as a detour route.

3/2/2010 - New Parking Available for Spring Breakers Who Visit Clearwater Beach

Spring break starts March 6 and goes through April 18. According to city estimates, there are approximately 5,000 visitors a day during the Spring Break season. Peak periods for parking at Clearwater Beach occur during Pinellas County School’s spring break, March 27 to April 4, which coincides with Easter weekend this year, all contributing to heavy traffic and parking conditions.

2/26/2010 - CSX Railroad Construction to Replace Railway Ties in Downtown Clearwater

Sections of East Avenue throughout Clearwater will be closed from March 2 to May 31 to northbound and southbound traffic due to railroad construction. The railroad ties along East Avenue will be replaced. The road and all intersections along the road will be closed. more

2/26/2010 - How Does the Countywide Fertilizer Ordinance Affect You?

A county-wide fertilizer ordinance recently went into effect to regulate the use of fertilizers in Pinellas County. What does this mean to you, as a Clearwater resident? It’s not a fertilizer ban. You can still fertilize your lawn and gardens, but new regulations limit the types of fertilizers used during the summer, rainy months. It’s important to know the new regulations to reduce harmful nutrients (such as nitrogen and phosphorous) found in fertilizers and keep them from polluting our waterways. more
