Clearwater Main Library to Participate in International Games Day

CLEARWATER, Fla. The Clearwater Main Library, 100 N. Osceola Ave., will participate in the sixth annual International Gaming Day Saturday, Nov. 16.

Elementary through high school age children are invited to meet at the Main Library from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. where they will join more than 20,000 of their peers online in more than 1,000 participating libraries across the U.S. and abroad in board games, chess, checkers, Wii, Xbox 360 video games, trading card games and more.

Gamers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend the free event, and chess and video game tournaments will be included in the activities to challenge advanced level gamers.

The International Games Day @ Your Library, or IGD13, is an initiative of the American Library Association to reconnect young people through their community libraries around the educational, recreational, and social value of all types of games. Gaming encourages young patrons to interact with a diverse group of peers, share their expertise with others (including adults), and develop new strategies for gaming and learning.
