East Library Nominated as Favorite Library for Young Readers CLEARWATER, Fla. – The Clearwater East Library, 2251 Drew St., has received the distinction of being among the top 200 nominated libraries according to the Association of Library Service to Children (ALSC) and Lego Duplo. The nominations, that were part of an early literacy program titled “Read! Build! Play!” were open until Oct. 1 at www.readbuildplay.com. The East Library received 1,348 votes, placing 50th and qualifying to receive a toolkit of Duplo bricks and preschool books to bolster its early childhood programs. “We recently received the items and are so excited,” said Youth Services Librarian Valerie Mathre. “We plan on creating “Read! Build! Play! Story Times starting this summer.” The ALSC and Lego Duplo sponsored the contest to recognize the amazing and tireless work of local public libraries. The Read! Build!
