The suspect who used a skateboard as a getaway vehicle after stealing a big-screen television last week has been apprehended.

David Ahmaal Aziz Kennedy, 30, was booked into the Pinellas County Jail early today on one count of armed robbery.

Kennedy is the suspect in the Jan. 15 robbery of the Super Target at Clearwater Mall, 2747 Gulf-to-Bay Blvd. He went into the store one minute before closing and grabbed a 32-inch flat-screen LCD TV before fleeing the store on his skateboard.

Surveillance video released after the robbery showed the suspect skating through the store with the TV in his possession. It also shows him fleeing Target on the skateboard. The video was posted on the police department's Facebook page, where more than 15,000 people have viewed it.

One of those who apparently saw it was Kennedy, who said a friend told him he should check out the video.

He did not, however, admit to detectives that it was him in the video or that he robbed the store.

The Clearwater Police Department would like to thank members of the media for airing footage of the crime.

Kennedy, who gave an address of 1405 S. Martin Luther King Jr., has been arrested more than a dozen times in Pinellas County in the last few years. Prior to his most recent arrest, he last was arrested on Jan. 9 on a grand theft charge.

He was released from jail on that charge on Jan. 14; the Target robbery occurred the next day.
