Construction Extended for Mandalay Stormwater Outfall Project, Wraps Up in Less Than One Month

CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Construction work on the Mandalay Stormwater Outfall Project is substantially complete, and work was finished early and under budget. Additional stormwater improvements have been added to the project, continuing north on East Shore Drive to Baymont Street, extending the original scope of the project. This work began Jan. 6 and is expected to be complete by the end of January 2014.

At yesterday’s Work Session meeting, the City Council approved the start of milling and paving work along Mandalay Avenue from the Clearwater Beach roundabout to Baymont Street; along Baymont Street from the beach to the Intracoastal Waterway; and, along the parking lanes on southbound Mandalay Avenue and East Shore Drive. This work is anticipated to be complete in early February 2014, and night work may take place to minimize disruptions to parking and vehicular traffic.

The $1.35-million project, which began April 2013, will bring stormwater improvements along parts of north Clearwater Beach. To learn more, call the city's Engineering Department at (727) 562-4750.
