May Events Scheduled at Moccasin Lake Nature Park
CLEARWATER, Fla. – The following May events are scheduled at Moccasin Lake Nature Park, 2750 Park Trail Lane. Call (727) 793-2976 for more information.
Sundamizu Bonsai Kai: Saturday, June 1, 10 a.m. to noon. Learn the art and techniques of bonsai. Group meets every second Saturday of the month.
Clearwater Audubon Society: Monday, June 3, 7 p.m. The local chapter conducts field trips, supports environmental education. Everyone is welcome. $1 suggested donation per person, per meeting.
Green Mixers: June 6 and 18, 6:30 to 9 p.m. On June 6, the topic is “Upset Stomach? Poor Digestion?” Discussion will be about why many are experiencing bloated bellies and abdominal pain. Healthy food and diet change could help. On June 18, the topic is “Backyard Chicken Tales.” Contact Bob Lawrason at (727) 831-5832 for more information. Free.
Drum Circles: Saturday, June 8, 7 to 9 p.m. Enjoy the music of local artists and bands under the stars. During intermission, enjoy beverages and toast marshmallows around the campfire. Those with some cookout skills can make s’mores. Fixings provided. In case of inclement weather, the concert is moved indoors. Free with evening admission of $3.
Suncoast Turtle Club: Saturday, June 8, 7 to 9:30 p.m. This is for people interested in turtles with an emphasis on responsible husbandry and captive breeding. $1 suggested donation per person. Call (727) 421-5542 for more information.
Science & Nature Summer Safari Camp: Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., starts June 10. No camp on July 4. Cost per week: $75 with a play pass; $100 with a recreation card; $125 with no card. Scholarships are available. Registration is underway. Visit myclearwater.com/camps.

Suncoast Sierra Club: Thursday, June 20, 7 to 9:30 p.m. Members participate in both the enjoyment and preservation of the natural environment. $1 suggested donation per person.
Yoga: Saturdays, June 1, 8, 15 and 22, 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. All ages can experience the beauty of nature. Promotes health, wellness, peace of mind, strength, balance, and flexibility. $15 with a play pass; $20 with a recreation card; and $25 with no card per month.
Kali/Eskrima: Saturdays, June 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This is an ancient martial art from the Philippines that emphasizes the use of weapons. Cost per month: $28.50 with a play pass; $38 with a recreation card; and $48.50 with no card.
