Please join us for a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to mark the occasion of the highly anticipated Grand Re-opening of the historic Capitol Theatre in downtown Clearwater.
Wednesday, December 18, 2013
This is a significant event for the City of Clearwater, Ruth Eckerd Hall and the residents of the Tampa Bay area. The Capitol Theatre is a major catalyst for the redevelopment of downtown Clearwater and the entire community. Mayor of Clearwater George Cretekos, City Manager Bill Horne, City Council members, President and CEO of Ruth Eckerd Hall Zev Buffman and five-time GRAMMY® Award-winner Michael McDonald, the first artist to perform at the Capitol Theatre, will all be present.
Originally built in 1921, the newly revitalized Capitol Theatre not only has a beautiful new façade reflective of its historic past, it features state-of the art technology. Features include a dramatic new interior with expanded seating to accommodate nearly 750 patrons and luxury loge boxes on each side of the theater. Some of the most exciting new characteristics include Frenchy’s Rooftop Terrace with a scenic water view available for community and private events and a dramatic wraparound second level art deco veranda.
