National Championship Tournament Needs Volunteers

CLEARWATER, Fla. -- The City of Clearwater is hosting the Amateur Softball Association’s 18 and Under Girl’s Softball Gold National Championship, July 21-27, at the Eddie C. Moore Complex, 3050 Drew St. in Clearwater.

The tournament will bring up to 76 teams to Clearwater from all over the country. They will produce more than 5,000 room nights in our hotels and enjoy all of the great amenities the Clearwater area has to offer. This signature event will generate more than $1.3 million in economic impact to communities throughout Pinellas County.

We’re looking for volunteers to do each of these jobs:

• greet people at the gates each day

• monitor the fields (retrieve foul balls, provide water to umpires and scoreboard operators)

• help distribute food (to other volunteers, staff and umpires)

• live scoring (knowledge of baseball or softball and possess the ability to post scores, balls, strikes, hit, errors, etc. via a computer)

• help direct cars in the parking lot each day

Volunteers will receive a t-shirt and a meal during their shift. This is also an opportunity for students to earn volunteer hours during the summer. To sign up, visit For more information, call (727) 562-4803 or email
