FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Sept. 17, 2012 Contact: Heather Parsons (727) 562-4708 Floodplain Management Plan Details Stormwater Progress CLEARWATER, Fla. -- The City of Clearwater released its 2012 progress report on implementing its Floodplain Management Plan, which is available at myclearwater.com/flooding. The plan, which helps to identify areas in the city that are prone to flooding, enables residents to obtain discounts on flood insurance. The plan serves as a five-year outlook of what residents can expect when it comes to stormwater and flooding. Some changes and progress from the last update in 2009 include the following: • The city continues to participate in the FEMA Project Impact Program to help reduce the impacts of natural disasters. • Clearwater added several new online features to help residents, property owners, property professionals, and others to identify the flood zone for a particular property and request elevation certificates.
