May Events Scheduled at Moccasin Lake Nature Park

CLEARWATER, Fla. – The following May events are scheduled at Moccasin Lake Nature Park, 2750 Park Trail Lane. Call (727) 793-2976 for more information.

Green Mixers: May 2 and 21, 6:30 to 9 p.m. Take a solar tour of the park on May 2. Matt Neal, a Certified Arborist, will teach how to properly organically fertilize and care for trees on May 21. Send an email to 4lawrason@aol.com for more information. Free.

Sundamizu Bonsai Kai: Saturday, May 4, 10 a.m. to noon. Learn the art and techniques of bonsai. Group meets every second Saturday of the month.

Drum Circles: Saturday, May 11, 7 to 9 p.m. Enjoy the music of local artists and bands under the stars. During intermission, enjoy beverages and toast marshmallows around the campfire. Those with some cookout skills can make s’mores. Fixings provided. In case of inclement weather, the concert is moved indoors. Free with evening admission of $3.

Suncoast Turtle Club: Saturday, May 11, 7 to 9:30 p.m. This is for people interested in turtles with an emphasis on responsible husbandry and captive breeding. $1 suggested donation per person. Call (727) 421-5542 for more information.

Suncoast Herpetological Society: Wednesday, May 15, 7 to 9:30 p.m. For people interested in reptiles and amphibians, with an emphasis on responsible husbandry and captive breeding. Visit kingsnake.com/suncoastherpsociety for more information. $1 suggested donation per person.

Suncoast Sierra Club: Thursday, May 16, 7 to 9:30 p.m. Members participate in both the enjoyment and preservation of the natural environment. $1 suggested donation per person.

Yoga: Saturdays, May 4, 11, 18 and 25, 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. All ages can experience the beauty of nature. Promotes health, wellness, peace of mind, strength, balance, and flexibility. $15 with a play pass; $20 with a recreation card; and $25 with no card per month.

Kali/Eskrima: Saturdays, May 4, 11, 18 and 25, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This is an ancient martial art from the Philippines that emphasizes the use of weapons. $28.50 with a play pass; $38 with a recreation card; and $48.50 with no card per month.
