DDB Chair and Dolphin Artist Introduce Children to Where the Wild Things Are

CLEARWATER, Fla. – Mr. David Albritton, Chairman of the Clearwater Downtown Development Board, will welcome a group of first to third-graders from Artz4Life, Monday, June 24 at 11 a.m. at the

The downtown’s District Dolphins exhibit, sponsored by the Clearwater Downtown Development Board, is a spinoff of the Dolphin Pod attraction of similar sculptures that were displayed at Pier 60 Park during the Republican National Convention last summer. A collaboration between the Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce and the City of Clearwater, the attraction was a tribute to bottlenose dolphins which are prevalent in area waters, and to Clearwater’s most famous dolphin, Winter, the star of the hit film Dolphin Tale.

Now numbering more than 100 dolphins, the sculptures are painted by local artists and groups and placed throughout the city, county and beyond.

The sculpture at the library, painted by artist Cathie Carol Zurich-Wus, is titled “A Dolphin Can Take You Where the Wild Things Are.” Mr. Albritton will introduce the children to the dolphin exhibit and Ms. Zurich-Wus will read the Maurice Sendak book Where the Wild Things Are.

Artz4Life Academy is a learning institution with a mission to use the arts to enhance education, promote diversity and develop life skills to create positive, productive youth, adults and families in our community.
