New Fitness Zone for Adults at Countryside Recreation Center and Park
CLEARWATER, Fla. – The Countryside Recreation Center and Park, 2640 Sabal Springs Drive, has a new outdoor Fitness Zone made for adults. Thanks to a $20,000 Communities Putting Prevention to Work grant from the Pinellas County Health Department, seven new pieces of Greenfields outdoor fitness equipment are available.
The Countryside Fitness Zone is the first in the City of Clearwater and includes a sit-up incline bench; a cross country ski; a lat pull-down; a chest press; an air-walker; a leg press; and a set of combo bars for leg lifts, pull-ups and chin-ups.
The park is surrounded by ball fields, a playground, and basketball courts. While kids are at baseball or basketball practice, parents can get a workout and still watch their children.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that more than 63 percent of Pinellas County adults are overweight or obese. The Communities Putting Prevention to Work grant has funded several of these free, easy-to-use outdoor fitness zones to help address the adult obesity problem in Pinellas County.
