Summer Library Programs for Youth and Teens, Week of July 14

CLEARWATER, Fla. – The Clearwater Public Library System will offer a wealth of programs for children and teens July 14 to July 21. Complete program listings are available through the library hotline at (727) 562-4970 or online at myclearwater.com/cpl. Highlights include:

MAIN LIBRARY:

I (HEART) My Library Photo Contest, Now until Friday, July 26. Send in digital photos of you and/or your friends enjoying a Clearwater library for a chance to win one of ten, $50 gift cards. Entry forms and information are available at myclearwater.com/cpl. All ages are welcome.

Discover Prehistoric Florida, Monday, July 15, 2 to 3 p.m. Archaeologists from the Florida Public Archaeology Network at USF reveal how ancient Floridians lived before our civilization. Groups of ten or more please pre-register.

Shipwrecked: Wednesday, July 24, 2:30 to 4 p.m. Stranded on a desert island? Learn how to get off the island, create a note in a bottle, bury treasure and more Pirate 101 survival skills.

Showtime with the Dascaloja Puppeteers, Thursday, July 18, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. For ages five and older. Puppets re-enact stories, folktales and songs, and their teen puppeteers present live dances and skits with audience participation.

Dive Into Archaeology, Thursday, July 18, 2 to 3 p.m. Archaeologists from the Florida Public Archaeology Network at USF present on shipwrecks and related artifacts. Hands-on demos of mapping and boat-building for third graders and up.

EAST LIBRARY:

Marcela’s Masters: Storytime Extravaganza, Tuesday, July 16, 11 a.m. Stories of famous artists, arts and crafts.

Reading Buddies, Friday, July 19, 2 p.m. Fifth graders and younger are paired with a teen volunteer for reading.

The Not Really Improv Group, Monday, July 15, 2:30 p.m. Improvisational acting for teens.

Fritzy Brothers One-Main Circus, Tuesday, July 16, 2 to 3 p.m. Laughs, juggling, unicycling, fantastic circus stunts.

Kid’s Chess Club, Wednesday, July 18, 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. All skill levels are welcome. Bring a chessboard.

Signing Stories, Thursday, July 19, 2 to 3 p.m. Miss Ann-Marie teaches sign language in today’s Preschool Place.

Viva Florida Craft, Saturday, Jul 20, 2 to 3 p.m. Learn interesting facts about native Floridians and Ponce de Leon from Miss Nancy, then create a Florida craft.

NORTH GREENWOOD LIBRARY:

Game On Mondays, July 15, 2 to 3:30 p.m. Video gaming, music, board games, card games and friends.

Underground Library, Tuesday, July 16, 2 to 3 p.m. Teens and tweens are invited to a secret library world where noise, music and games are allowed.

Magic with Cesar Domico, Wednesday, July 17, 2 to 3 p.m. Laughs and illusions from a master magician.
